Lexus drives automotive luxury into a new dimension with the launch of GS Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor for Lexus in the UAE, today announced
that the 2012 Lexus GS is now on sale in the UAE. The all-new GS is the embodiment
of the new face of Lexus and showcases the brand new direction for the luxury
carmaker. All future Lexus models will follow the lead taken by the GS and adopt
this new direction.
Saud Abbasi, General Manager of Al-Futtaim Motors - Lexus, said, "We are
proud to be offering all those who have been awaiting the chance to finally
own the first Lexus car that is built to reflect the new Lexus philosophy. World-class
luxury, evocative design, outstanding driving dynamics and innovative technology
have been combined to create the all-new GS. This car will challenge the dynamics
of the existing mid-size luxury automotive segment and will connect with its
driver on an emotional level."
Abbasi further added, "The all-new GS is a standard bearer and an expression
of the future. We foresee very strong demand for the vehicle due to its distinct
character within the mid-size luxury segment."
To be a powerful contender in its segment, the GS has been completely redesigned
from the ground up. The all-new Lexus GS has been engineered without compromise.
Its driving performance, luxury appointments and the adoption of new technologies
such as human machine interface design aim to rebuild an interior space incorporating
technology that anticipates human emotions, rather than one in which humans
must adapt to the technology. The vehicle also incorporates second generation
remote touch to further enhance the control, comfort and safety of the driver.
Other features such as dynamic radar cruise control, closed eye warning detector
integrated with pre-crash safety system, lane change assist system and card
type smart entry enable the GS to set new standards in the segment.
The car will be available in three engine sizes. GS250 is powered by 2.5-litre
V6 engine delivering 207 horsepower whereas the GS350 comes with a 3.5-litre
V6 engine that has both port and direct injection and delivers 312 horsepower.
GS450h - the hybrid model that is due to be launched in a few months - is powered
by a newly developed 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson cycle petrol engine with a two-motor
hybrid system that makes it a front engine rear-wheel drive vehicle. It delivers
an exhilarating output of 340 horse power.
The GS engages its driver through a new aerodynamic body, a reinvigorated platform
with a wider stance and stiffer structure, a transmission with quicker shifts,
and upgraded seat support. A lot was learnt from the LFA supercar in terms of
high-performance, precision and purpose and those lessons were applied directly
to the GS.
The bold dynamic presence of the Lexus GS is accentuated by the spindle grill.
It presents a look of stability which is highlighted through a flared wheel
arch emphasizing the wide tread, firm and lower stance. The L-shaped combination
lamps highlight the vehicle's identity. It displays a bolder look through its
19 inch newly introduced wheels.
The vehicle's interior is equally captivating. GS engineers challenged themselves
to develop a more spacious cabin environment. Exterior dimensions were left
virtually unchanged, as they dramatically increased cabin and trunk space.
Equal attention has been paid to maximising space for rear passengers, adding
headroom, legroom, knee room and improved foot space compared the current generation
GS.
The Lexus GS interior represents a continuation of the next generation Lexus
interior design theme. An ergonomically designed, driver-focused cockpit enables
customers to remain alert and comfortable over long periods of time.
The horizontal view of the instrument panel, including the world's first 12.3
inch screen adds to the vehicle's luxurious interior.
